Day One - Waving goodbye on the first day of school
The high school bus route now goes down our street! Dale and I enjoyed standing on the front porch and waving at our son as the bus went by this morning. No better way to make your teenage son smile on his first day of school, right?
Read the article last night on Deseret News, just finished looking at all your pictures, I think that was such a fun idea! Thanks for the laugh, you guys are great :)
I looked at every single photo and they are all great. I doubt he'll need therapy (your donation fund). I bet he has a wonderful sense of humor and will make some of the same great memories with his children!
These were AWESOME. The photos are freaking hilarious and the comments are fantastic too! We're sharing this all over FB and have submitted this blog to Tots & Giggles (hope they pick it up!). And we are complete costume and Halloween nuts at this house too; we do a haunted asylum ever year for the neighborhood. Let me know if you ever need help coming up with any costume ideas, it's my specialty! Best of everything to you and your family!! <3
You guys are awesome! I loved the pictures! They made me smile and laugh (in the library)...gosh, i was even told to keep it down. lol. Keep on keeping on :)
That was great!! Doing something that your child will always be talking about is something that I as a young father look forward to. Thank you for the inspiration!!
You made me crack up alone on my couch - THANK YOU!!!! SO SO SO hilarious!! Can I come live at your house? This is what life should be :) Thank you for making everyone on my Facebook feed (and me!) so happy!!!
I felt like flipping thru the pages from the Far Side. The pictures and comments were very funny. Thank you so much for documenting this. Too bad tho that i couldnt view the picture of the first day. Was looking forward to it.
You guys have got to be the best parents I have ever heard of!!! I really enjoyed looking through your blog and viewing all your photos and the captions on them. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Your family has truly amazed me tonight!
Awesome Dad! really cool! hahahah~ saw this news at Yahoo...i think i'll never see this in Malaysia...LOL! thanks 4 d laugh, great pics :D r u guys going to continue this for like a season 2?? haha~
Agreed! You are the best parents ever. I'm sure your son and his classmates loved it and will talk about it for years. And this will mean so much to all your kids someday. Be sure to backup this blog. The pictures and the captions are brilliant--very creative. Thanks for the laughs!
Awesome....actually made me a little misty. Every dad loves their kids, but it is hard to come up with good ways to show them how much you do. You sir, have taken the cake!!
This just proves that event the smallest things you do for your kids count and that being a dad is an everyday job and not the first and last day of school task. Great Job Dad (and mom for taking the pics)!
This is indeed the best news I have seen in a long while. The world needs more people like you. I loved all the pictures, great job Dad (and Mom)! thanks for the smiles. Your friend in Pennsylvania
Thank you thank you thank you for the laughter and smiles. And for being a demonstration of what family is really all about - embarrassing the heck out of our kids, and knowing they'll laugh about it later ;-)
You've got my vote as World's Coolest Dad! How long did it take Rain to get over the "teenager" embarrassment? I'll bet that before long EVERYONE on that bus was looking forward to see what you'd come up with and every kid secretly wishing he/she had a Dad like you!
Thanks for the laughs! I'm impressed at the dedication here. That's a lot of early mornings standing outside! Way to be an involved dad spreading some love!
Great idea from wonderful Dad (and Mom off course). Rain certainly has something wonderful to smile about whenever he sees a school bus forever in his life.
This was a wonderful project. I enjoyed every pic. Such dedication to do it every day for an entire school year. All of the kids on that bus will remember it for the rest of their lives and smile. What better gift is there?
Fabulous. My kids say I embarrass them. What little they know. What a great job! I liked the politically incorrect ones the most. My favorite was the Saudie oil merchant.
What a lifetime of fond memories your children (and all their schoolmates) will have, long after you're gone! Congratulations on a job well done! The world needs more dads like you.
Congrats on finishing the year! I laughed out loud through the whole blog!! GREAT idea! I would have DIED if that were my dad (for the first few days at least...and then i just would have wondered what on earth he'd come up with next!)
I loved looking through your entire blog and a year of hard work...it was wonderfully orchestrated. I loved seeing the progressing of costumes and creativity throughout the year.
